Advances in laser technologies have brought many new therapies to the medical community, allowing physicians and specialists to affect the same health outcomes as traditional treatments without the need for surgery. One such technology is laser spider vein treatment. This safe and proven procedure effectively eliminates spider veins by destroying the damaged veins that appear on the surface of your skin.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE LASER SPIDER VEIN THERAPY PROCEDURE?
Your cardiologist may administer a topical or local anesthesia to help you remain comfortable during your laser spider vein treatment. A special device is used to apply laser energy to your spider veins. You may feel a mild sensation that feels like a small pinch as the laser is applied. Some patients report feeling a tingling sensation during the procedure.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER THE LASER SPIDER VEIN THERAPY PROCEDURE?
You may feel a small raised area around the treatment area where the laser was applied. This should resolve in two to four hours. You may also have some redness and bruising. After the damaged veins are destroyed by the laser spider vein treatment, your body naturally re-routes the blood to healthier veins, and the damaged vein is absorbed by your body. While laser spider vein therapy is effective in treating your current spider veins, we advise our patients that new spider veins may develop.
